Akina Minami promotes Google–Tokyo Girls Collection collaboration

“Talent” Akina Minami, 21, participated in an event on Thursday to promote the launch of the custom-made YouTube website TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION x Google Live!, a collaboration between Google and the wildly popular biannual fashion event Tokyo Girls’ Collection (TGC), which will be held on Saturday.
The YouTube channel will offer viewers live streaming of the six-hour event, plus exclusive interviews with models, stylists and fashion professionals. TCG fans will also be able to purchase clothes worn during the show via a link that shows the price and an e-commerce website for each item.
During the event, Minami tried the YouTube channel herself and said she is looking forward to Saturday, when she will host the show together with several other fashion leaders.

That headband thing that she's wearing - I see those here and there. Are they supposed to be a hark back to the 1920/30s? Flappers wore them, didn't they?

The758 -- Hell no. They just "hark back" to last week when this gal obviously saw another "talent" wear one, or saw it in a magazine. "Fashion" here is just about copying, not actually thinking about it or its roots.

rabblerouser and Smorkian -- surely you both jest. "Fashion" is NOT just about copying. It is about taking certain trends/styles and then making them into an individual statement. Fashion in Japan IS just about copying the exact same look/outfit. Which is why you see dozens of girls on any one day wearing the identical look. There is no individuality here. NONE. For example, why do they ALL have to wear those silly large plastic sunglasses all the time? No reason, just to look cool. You want to see fashion, google some pictures from this weeks Academy Awards. Many ladies wore similar styles of clothing -- like vintage -- but did it completely unigue to themselves. Tokyo Girls is not fashion -- just copying. Girls here wear costumes to look cool. That's not fashion.

herefornow, it's the EXACT same with your average person anywhere in the world. See the look, copy the look. There's hundreds of magazines in every language devoted to the topic. Japanese women are no different in this respect to women everywhere.
Hollywood actresses are totally different. They can afford the large amount of money it takes to be unique. High fashion costs $$$$$$
