TOKYO —

Singer-actress Anna Tsuchiya, 27, performed as a special guest during “Full moon ~ Love Is…,” a monthly candle event at act*square restaurant in Ebisu, Tokyo, on Monday night. Tsuchiya sang 10 songs, including a cover of Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven,” and the Carpenters’ “Yesterday Once More.”

“Full moon ~ Love Is…” is a free event which takes place every month when there is a full moon. Guests are offered a special dinner surrounded by 5,000 candles.

Referring to the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, which was also her birthday, Tsuchiya said: “At times when so many people are suffering in Japan and in many other countries too, an event like this gives us an opportunity to share a special moment with our loved and dear ones.”

The singer, whose mother is Japanese and father Polish-American, made her debut as a fashion model in 1998 and has since built a career in acting, singing and movie directing. She is also a mother of two.

I'd rather prefer she stops singing and just dine with me.

combinibento >> I find it ironic that you'd actually sit down and 'lose' your time posting a comment when you're not interested... I like her singing, especially the husky voice.

for some reason, i dont 'get' tsuchiya anna. she parades around like shes some 70s rock god but then she tries to portray herself as a homely cookie-baking mother type... im still figuring her out. i think its very sad that the tsunami and earthquake were on her birthday, i hope that doesnt take away from her birthday and she can celebrate without guilt.

She somehow opened more emotional reactions to guests who were also donors of Japan's quake-hit area. The restaurant can manage more similar special dinners with special guests and performers.

Free event and dinner? I could care less for her singing so I would stuff rice in my ears and enjoy the dinner.
