sighclops
They had one hit...
nath
Sigh you calling the Monkey'a a one hit wonder? I think their record shows a bit better than that.
ReformedBasher
How's your score doing?
lucabrasi
@sighclops
How do you define a "hit"?
Every one of their five albums has gone to number one in the UK charts, and they've had at least four top ten singles, two at number one.
They also have the record for the fastest-selling album ever in the history of the UK charts.
If only they weren't from Yorkshire... : )
FizzBit
Never heard of them. The headline through me for a loop.
Heda_Madness
Saw them earlier this year and they were really good.
For those of you who haven't heard of them/think they've only had one hit, well I guess that's your loss. Not theirs.

Never heard of them, and I live in the land of the so-called packed stadiums.
SwissToni
1glenn, I guess you haven't been that observant then. All five of their albums have charted in the US too.

@lucabrasi
Considering that British music really died in the 90s, it doesn't take much to top the charts these days, nor to win a Brit Award. Same could be said for the Grammys (ouch). Britain has really dropped the ball in the music realm (this coming from a die-hard British music fan).
Heda_Madness
Two top 10 albums in the US, and two top 20 would suggest that they're doing pretty well outside of the UK as well.

Too bad British groups that continue to make important, sophisticated, and relevant music (Godflesh, Killing Joke, Napalm Death) are unable to garner half the notoriety that these hipster hacks do. As for cheeky garage punk origins, why not go see Madness, Martin Fry, or Shirley Manson instead?
