Artsy undies on display at the Triumph Inspiration Awards
Women’s underwear maker Triumph Japan held a lingerie design contest, “Triumph Inspiration Award 2009,” in Tokyo on Monday. The winner of the contest, which featured 740 different items of lingerie of all shapes and sizes, was 21-year-old Yukino Kurosu, a 3rd year student at Bunka Fashion College.
Kurosu’s winning undies, called the “Sprouting Inner,” were modeled after the freshness of young cabbage and made especially for young, modern women, Kurosu said. “I hope my creation will be worn by aspiring young women,” she said. Her designs will be displayed in Milan at the end of September.
The 2009 Triumph image girl, 20-year-old Hiromi Nishiuchi, appeared at the contest in a design that captured the grand prize in the international competition last year. Called “Under Skin,” Nishiuchi called them her “lucky undies” and said that, “They’re definitely something I’d want to wear on a special day.” Under Skin will be sale from Aug 6.
