ATSUSHI launches photo exhibition in Harajuku to help unwanted pets

TOKYO —

ATSUSHI, one of the dancers for alternative rock group Dragon Ash, showed off his photo collection “POWER of LIFE” this week – a series of photographs featuring athletes and musicians among others, held to raise awareness of the plight of unwanted pets.

ATSUSHI, 30, said that he wanted to do something to help dogs and cats that had been thrown away, after he visited an animal shelter last year. About 50 photos taken by ATSUSHI are on display at the exhibition, including ones of track-and-field athlete Dai Tamesue, 30, and judo wrestler Tadahiro Nomura, 34.

ATSUSHI said: “I’d like to continue conveying the importance of life after this event ends.”

Reporters asked him if his girlfriend, singer-actress YOU, 44, had any influence in the project, and ATSUSHI said: “Yeah I think so. She’s supporting me.”

The pair’s relationship was exposed by a tabloid magazine in 2006, but until now, ATSUSHI had refrained from commenting publicly on their relationship. He said it was going well, but when asked what the chances were of them getting married sometime this year, he said he wasn’t sure.

“POWER of LIFE” will be on display at the Tokyo Hipsters Club in Harajuku until May 10. Donations will go to the charity “Lifeboat for the abandoned Dogs and Cats.”

Learn proper capitalization of English or I can't pay any attention to you.

This is a nice man trying to do something for abandoned animals & all we have here is waffle about how the article looks. Stop trying to prove to the world how incredible you are & think about something out side yourselves. This photo show is about him & what he feels about abandoned & even the press can’t stay focused. Who ever his girlfriend might be has nothing to do with it. I wish him success because every little that helps animals is a good thing.

with a little abuse, both dogs and humans would be more human, and hopefully less animal.

considering cats like to hide, it's harder to determine the effect on them.

but if you want cats to be cats and dogs to be dogs, then give them the respect you expect from your fellow man.

otherwise, karma will fling kittie litter, and bark all the time, then widdle & puke¡ :D

grafton you are absolutely correct. Animals need advocates to speak for them, as they cannot do so themselves. Shelters here in the USA are being flooded with discarded animals due to the economy. It is good to see celebrities doing things to draw attention to the plight of unwanted pets.

unfortunately it seems that a large part of the population think that proper nouns are entirely capitalised in the english, rather than initial caps. i can see where this might come from (use in signs) but it's certainly not taught at schools. goes to show that people learn more from advertising than they should

Have to agree with the Pro. I sort of read the article but got nothing from it. It irritated the eye and the brain...

Thanks for telling me what it's about, and yes, it sounds like a worthy venture. Hope he learns how to present it properly.
