Aya Sugimoto introduces 'Godfather' DVD collection

Actress Aya Sugimoto, 40, was the “talent” of choice this week at a promotional event for the release of the DVD box of “The Godfather” films. Director Kazuyuki Izutsu, 55, was also on hand for the event.

Sugimoto, who appeared in a sexy pink dress, said, “I like guys fighting over something. Losers are not attractive at all.” Izutsu added, “I think ‘The Godfather’ is a revolutionary film. It really created an impression on me when I was young.”

it's been released on bluray this week for the first time, that is the big kerfuffle, not that it is on dvd. it's a great improvement on the dvd version, the dark black dimly lit movie it was meant to be. really looks great

The big news is not that it's on Blu-Ray (though that's great too), but that the film has been completely remastered from original stock--the versions that have come out over the years, from VHS to DVD, have all relied on poorly maintained stock that was dark, dirty, and incomplete. As Roger Ebert noted, the difference in quality is a revelation.
