Aya Sugimoto makes PETA's best dressed list

Aya Sugimoto, a singer, actor, model, dancer, and erotic-novel writer, has been selected as one of only five Asian celebrities to make People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific’s first-ever best-dressed list.
“I stopped wearing fur two years ago after having learned how products are made,” says Sugimoto, who runs here own faux-fur clothing line, Dear Elsa, which is named after her beloved cat. “I want people to know the cruel and sinister reality.”
Sharing honors with Sugimoto for their stylish and fur-free fashion choices are sultry action-flick actor Maggie Q, Grammy Award–winning coloratura soprano Su-Mi Jo of South Korea, award-winning actor Sun Li (aka Betty Sun) of China, and veteran actor of more than 40 films, Karen Mok of Hong Kong.

This head shot of Sugimoto is useless for this article. How are we supposed to judge for ourselves if she should really be on this "best-dressed" list?
Also, can't believe JT forgot to mention her age, 40.

You can see she isn't wearing any animal carcasses so the photo hits the spot. Plus, you can use your imagination. Not wearing fur because of how the animals are treated (some skinned while still alive) is passionate thinking. If people could see how the animals they eat are treated while alive, there would be more vegetarians in this world.

So she has her own fake fur line, isn't wearing fake fur like being vegetarian and eating soy burgers? How many people would actually think or know that what she's wearing is fake.

Beelzebub - that's what some people might "want" to see her as, but not what she is known for. We only get the headshot because she is actually naked in that full PETA photo. Which does seem strange as JT published the naked photo in its Photo Of The Day section when it was first released.
Maybe it's because they don't want to name someone a being best dressed and then showing her naked. Kind of an irony there.

I don't like her, but it is refreshing to hear a person who actually has some compassion for animals, in a country that regularly serves horse meat, whale meat, and seafood that's still moving.

PETA - This would be the same animal rights organization whose employees gas animals in the back of trucks and then throw them in dumpsters. Persons interested in the protection of animal rights should give their support to organizations like the ASPCA rather than wasting their time with this crowd of loonies.

Just stop wearing the fur is not enough for reducing the animal cruelity. Walking shoes, Hand Bags & leather jackets manufacturing process are not different from Fur products. For her good cause, she needed to become vegetarian & avoid using all products related to killing animals.
Wool is not problem for wearing because sheep are not killed for manufacturing.

ASPCA/RSPCA is a waste of time for anyone worried about animal welfare other than for pets. I think PETA are better in that they care about all animals, not just the cute ones.
As for fake fur...so lame! It's helping propogate the idea that fur is somehow sexy and desirable, which means more people will buy REAL fur. Nice body, poor brains, Aya.

I noticed the novelist, Masako Bando, didn't make the list.
So PETA, you can be the best, most cruelty-free dressed woman in Japan and love your pets, but if you throw just one bag of kittens off a cliff the award is forever out of reach? I thought this award was for best dressed, not best behaved.

PETA was running animal shelters in the USA and when they got too crowded the morons decided that it would be best to just gas the unwanted cats and dogs with engine exhaust and toss the carcasses in a dumpster.
They are never going to live this one down. Once you stat reading some of the quotes of Newkirk you realize that they really are lunatics.
Of course if they can get good looking women to undress in public I guess they have one redeeming quality.
