TOKYO —

Singer Aya Matsuura, 23, will co-host the “Everyone’s a Star!” special when it airs on the Disney Channel on May 28.

Matsuura, who auditioned for the all-girl pop group Morning Musume in 2000, became a long-time member of Hello! Project - a Mickey Mouse Club-esque collective of young Japanese pop artists. She “graduated” from the group in March 2009. Like many Japanese pop idols, Matsuura has worked in a multitude of assignments ranging from solo work and collaborations with other idols, to hosting a radio talk show and acting.

When asked whether she had any fond memories of visiting Tokyo Disneyland, Matsuura replied, “Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Disneyland with a special someone. If I finally go on a date there, I’ll let everyone know on my blog!”

Since 2006, Matsuura has suffered from mandibular joint disorder, a condition that often makes it painful for her to sing. Earlier this year, she announced that she will be taking a 2-3 year hiatus from touring.

Matsuura was joined at the promotional event by Papaya Suzuki who will co-host “Everyone’s a Star!” and the pair performed a quick dance routine.

I like how she's been 23 for at least five years.

Seems like the perfect spokesperson to represent a theme park where people never grow up (or old).

Papaya Suzuki has lost some serious weight.

If "everyone's a star", why are there only about six people on TV?

Hi everyone. Anyone? Hello? Went to Disneyland today with a guy twice my age. Stood in line for 90 minutes for a 90 second mini roller coaster and chatted about his wife in the meantime. I had such a good time. And it was free! As was the hotel. I'm so happy I could sing, but that would be painful for all of us. Wait, is anybody listening? Hello?

"The blokes(sic) head looks 2 times to(sic) big for his body." So, you've not seen Suzuki during his 'afro' days, then?

I agree with LoveUSA -- Papaya is very talented and has his own sense of style.

About 10kg down on the body and minus another 5kg via the haircut. Nice suit!

Poor Aya, whenever my jaw pops I FEEL for her! I miss her singing.
