Aya Ueto and Jin Akanishi introduce 'Speed Racer'

TOKYO —

Actress Aya Ueto, 22, and Jin Akanishi, 23, a member of Johnny’s idol group KAT-TUN, on Monday appeared at a PR event together with American actor Emile Hirsh, 23, to introduce the Hollywood film “Speed Racer” in which the two dub the voices of the main characters.

Akanishi said, “Hirsh is a very natural and kind person. I can’t believe he’s as old as me. He’s very cool.” Asked about how the production went, Ueto said, “Akanishi has a very sexy voice. I wondered how we were going to dub the kissing scene. I asked our staff to demonstrate the kissing sound, but they said we didn’t have to make any sounds during that scene.”

And now ladies and gentlemen: We'd like to introduce you to a truly dreadful, money-losing steaming pile of Wachowski Brothers called, "Speed Racer".

I liked Speed Racer. It was the most glorious eye-candy ever concieved and I sorely wished I saw it on IMAX theaters instead.

Lot's of eye candy and cool CG Tech. The actual plot and acting, not so much.

Sounds like those matrix sequels. Pretty cool eye candy, terrible plot and acting.

Have seen only part of it, then my little boy demands to stop, because it was boring for him. What he likes much more is the game with same name on the Nintendo DS.

"Speed Racer" - how moronically idiotic can you get - "Fast Runner" "Static Stander" etc etc etc.

Do the Japanese know it's originally a Japanese anime?

And a pretty awful one - stylistically speaking - at that. I hate animated flicks where the character opens mouth, speaks, closes mouth without actually forming words with the mouth - which is what the original Speed Racer did. Boring.

    blvtzpk Why future?

Actually Japan is in the past, because the film Speed Racer has already been released in the US and in Europe.

I forgot to say, my little one really likes "Lightning McQueen". So he has DVD, Bento-set, small cars, little big bigger cars, and so on with "Lightning McQueen" on it. Also he (3 years old) like other boys likes toy cars very much. Just "Speed Racer" is boring for him.
