Aya Ueto suits up for summer

TOKYO —

Actress Aya Ueto, 23, is appearing in a television commercial for budget business fashion company AOKI’s new line of wash-and-wear suits. Wearing the same crisp, pure white dress as she does in the commercial at an event in Omotesando, Ueto proclaimed her love for the color, so much so that “All the furniture in my entire apartment is bright white.”

She then demonstrated how the new line of “Premium Wash Suits” could be washed, flashing the crowd her trademark smile. “When your family is the one washing your suits, it really motivates you. This is definitely the best way to get through the steaming hot summer!”

The actress was slightly less confident about her performance in the ad, saying, “It’s embarrassing to do commercials, because the character in them is definitely not me. In this commercial, I had to play a really clean-cut woman, but that really doesn’t suit me.”

Suits, the most impractical clothing known to man. Standing next to one on the trains at the moment is like standing next to a heater.

    "wash and wear suits"

I betcha the dry cleaning shops hate those.

Full credit to her for honestly admitting doing CMs are embarrassing. I think lots of other celebs just say it's "great" or "fun".

designed for wear in north-western europe, unfortunately exported around the globe with no adaptation whatsoever for warmer climates

She can definitely wash my suits any day of the week, but Saturday would actually be preferred.

Also, notice how there's no singular of suits in Japan, one suit is a, suits.. :)

    Makkun

but that really doesn’t suit me

    There is one singular.

Any company that requires its employees to show up to work in suits should exclude "wash and wear" suits from what is deemed appropriate attire. A suit is worn to be taken seriously and make the man wearing it look classy. I bad tie is easy to spot and undermines its wearer's ability to make a somewhat decent impression. The same goes for suits - even ones that require dry cleaning. I don't think I've ever seen one of these particular pathetic excuses for a suit, but for the life of me, I cannot imagine it looking anywhere near classy. Second, a woman of Aya Ueto's caliber should indeed be embarrassed for appearing in an ad to promote these outfits.

Boring get back to me when they develop "wear and wash" suits.

Once again, product plus tarento equals entertainment.

"This is definitely the best way to get through the steaming hot summer!".

Yes, I'm sure the world loves to wear a suit through summer, just so womderful and charming .... /sigh.

In reality though, they should dump suits for the summer then the amount of stress most guys have would drop thereby reducing that suicide rate that is featured in another article on JT.

it's funny that everyone wears such dark suits given the heat. White or lighter suits wouldn't be so hot. But I don't recall ever seeing a tan or light suit in Japan. Anyone?

  • sf2k at 04:45 AM JST - 16th May

Koizumi had asked years before that suits not be worn to reduce air-conditioning costs.

Would you feel that's gaining ground still today, or no?

I love Aya chan's smile! I'm gonna go to Aoki and buy myself a wash and wear suit just because I am crazy about Aya chan!

  • fagui at 10:15 PM JST - 16th May

aya-chan is mega-kawaii, but she looks more like a kid than a real woman

  • kirakira25 at 12:27 PM JST - 18th May

“All the furniture in my entire apartment is bright white.”

Ha ha! Yeah, mine was too till I had kids mate! Easy to have bright white furniture when you are single and 23!

I actually really like this girl though. She seems to have a bit more personality than most of the tarento`s on TV. My husband fell off his chair last night when I said he could add her to his "permissable shag" list! If he likes Aya, then the boy has taste!
