TOKYO —
Singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 30, is releasing a book which features photos of her in a bikini. Hamasaki has appeared just once in a bikini - for a calendar - since her singing debut in 1998. Her new book, titled “Ayu no dejideji nikki 2000 – 2009A” (Ayu’s Digital Diary 2000-2009), is being released to celebrate her 10 years in the music industry as well as celebrating 100 column pieces written by Hamasaki for monthly fashion magazine Vivi.
The book features 30 photos of Hamasaki, including some of her having lunch and shopping with staff and friends, as well as the eye-catching ones of her in a bikini, taken in Hawaii in January. More than 30,000 copies of the book have already been ordered, which will sell for 3,780 yen from Tuesday.
The book release comes just days before the beginning of her upcoming national tour, which starts with a show at Saitama Super Arena on April 11.

Not much of a fan of J-Pop or Ayu, but I must say she's got a nice bod. IMHO Aya Sugimoto defines beauty in this country.

She is hot but should cut back on the make up. At least she does not sing flat either like most here.

man why all this hate on ayumi. She is 30yrs old and she doesn't look that bad all things considered. She looks better now anyways after the surgeries. =)

Shiningfinger, I'm one of those people who believe Ayumi looked beautiful before all the alleged cosmetic surgeries and with less makeup.

I didnt hear anyone say they "hate" her. Everyone is allowed their opinion. Quit whining because some people prefer their women to like....women. not children.

Something about the progression from her hips to her legs looks.... strange.

Am no big fan of Ayumi and her music, but speaking in general of the Japanese female population they seem to keep their figures much better than that of most Caucasian woman.

correction: "look like women"...sorry

Stop trying to pin Ayu to her younger days. Everyone ages, everyone deals with it one way or another. It must be awkward to know you're not 22 anymore and that you need to revise your image.
I was in a CD store last night, and her CD was at number 1 on the album sales. It was also up there for rentals. I've really enjoyed some of her music and it was a gateway to other J-pop and J-music for me, so I still appreciate her.
