SAITAMA —
Bae Yong Joon, 39, the South Korean actor best known for his roles in television dramas that captured the hearts of Japanese housewives, is in Japan this week to promote the DVD release of his latest drama.
Making first visit to Japan in almost nine months, Bae, popularly known in Japan as Yon-sama, attended a publicity event at Saitama Super Arena on Sunday to promote “Dream High,” the first drama which he produced. It tells the story of six students at Kirin Art High School who work to achieve their dreams of becoming music stars in the Korean music industry.
The 12,000-strong crowd at the event had been invited after pre-ordering the “Dream High” DVD. Queues began forming outside the venue early in the morning. When Bae arrived by car just before midday, several fans were overcome at the sight of the man who spearheaded the influx of South Korean pop culture into Japan.
He told the crowd, “I’m glad to see you, my Japanese family, again. I was really worried about you. Now I’ve seen your beautiful smiles, I feel relieved.”
After the March 11 disaster, Bae donated 1 billion won (about 71.8 million yen) for recovery efforts.

Was it his money he donated or the Korean Johnny's money?

Did he eat any Japanese food while visiting? I bet he didn't and had it all brought with his entourage from Korea.

Oh no, not again! Obasans will block even the runway at Narita his plain will not be able to land and the main street at Shin-Okubo. Baaaad isn't?
Well, maybe not. Recently there are many very popular South Korean actors in Japan. Maybe Japanese turn to the new ones and he will lose some of its old popularity.

I generally think the Koreans to be much better actors and performers than their other close Asian neighbours, but this man is the exception to that rule.
