Good for him - he stood down in protest against Fox censorship. Wish more people would do that.

The Emmys is an award show, not a soap-box.

    It's not about Baldwin.

    It isn't censorship, it's business.

Just show the dresses, tell a few neutral jokes, and announce the winners!

Good on Baldwin. Fox is being moronic here and this will hurt them to an extent. Baldwin is a fine actor (especially in 30 Rock).

Meant to add, it's a shame he didn't win the best actor Emmy so he could shove it in their faces. Speaking of which -- I found a lot of the choices for winners to be pretty poor.

murdoch's maggots and the network of the teaparty....

    what a farce.

apparently the fox views the emmys as a more important forum than the news.

I'm sure that fox would be happy with such a banal and dumbed down bit of programming to keep the couched and anesthetized of "mad men" on their potatoeships!

the emmy's is about television and the media. and murdoch's maggots are like termites trying to eat away at the framework to bolster their position vis a vis their competitiors in that industry, so what is wrong with calling some attention to that? i'm afraid that everything quoted from alec baldwin's statement is right on the honey, i mean the bunny, the money... and he made a well punctuated statement by withdrawing in the face of such an attempt at denial and self-aggrandizement by murdoch's network.

Actors, actresses, and television media do not have a corner on free thought.

They are paid to act, write, and produce.

The Emmys is not the set of 30 Rock, or a private party.

Alec Baldwin lost luster way back when he refused to do any more "Jack Ryan" roles in the Tom Clancy-based movies. He gained back some of that luster with "30 Rock" and has improved again with his complaint about Fox. Good for him!

While Fox has a right to determine what was shown on its channel, they also have a right to get called on the carpet for censoring satire. It wasn't too long ago that Fox was staunchly defending "The Simpsons" for being satire and not mean-spirited, yet here they are snuffing the exact same kind of satire.
