TOKYO —

Film director-comedian Beat Takeshi, 62, will report on issues in Okinawa in his regular TV program “TV Tackle” on TV Asahi on Jan 31.

Takeshi recently visited Okinawa together with TV personality George Tokoro, 54, to report on U.S. base and environmental issues. Takeshi was quoted by media as saying that houses on the bases seemed very comfortable and that he wouldn’t mind one as a nursing home for when he gets old. Tokoro joked that Takeshi should shoot “Takeshi’s Castle” at Shuri Castle.

Is he semi-retired or something? This seems kind of a trifle to keep us away from "Zatoichi 2"

he has been a TV host for over 20 years, films were a sideline.

I hear he's going to do a section where he creeps up on a marine who's fallen asleep drunk on an old lady's couch and whacks them over the head with a plastic hammer.

Thanks shouqanaika - google knows everything and I hope Beat Takeshi realizes the heart-felt friendship that exists between the Ryukyuans and the American military. The Japanese annexed the Ryukyu Islands for a total of 66 years and the Americans have been on Okinawa for a total of 64 years

I cannot imagine two more irreverent people than Takeshi & Tokoro, I look forward to seeing what they do to Okinawa.

Wow! I haven’t seen you post in a long time, given your age I assumed you were either dead or in an old folks home. Nice to see that you are still banging the same old drum. Though I have to wonder about this idea of friendship you perceive. Friendship really wasn’t the feeling I perceived. Maybe we just know different people.
