Beauty Week Award winners announced

TOKYO —

Celebrity Akina Minami, 19, actress Rei Dan, 37, and Beijing Olympic volleyball player Megumi Kurihara, 24, on Wednesday were named recipients of the “2008 The Beauty Week Award” which was organized by the Beauty Week Committee.

Minami, who won the award in the Beauty Fresh section for her unique hairstyle, said, “I created the idea for this hairstyle by myself. I’m very happy to see people imitate it around town. I hope more people try it.”

Dan said, “As an actress, I’d like to try to express diversified facial emotions and beauty. I’m now wondering if I should have my hair longer or very short.”

Kurihara, whose brother is a hair dresser, said, “My brother must be happy about the award because he always cuts and colors my hair.”

I thought Megumi Kurihara was one of the highlights of the Olympics. Didn't realize she was that tall. Also, I thought her dye job was pretty good, so kudo's to her brother.
