TOKYO —

Celebrity Becky, 24, will become “Mckee” in a new TV commercial for Zebra Corporation’s Mckee marker pens, to be aired from August 25. In the new commercial Becky announces her new name and signs her autograph as “Mckee.”

You should open an anti-becky website.

    I'd sign up.

I would like to see her put into a large cannon or catapult.

Why do guys there find girls that talk like babies attractive!?

Because they know they can control the girls.

  • NICOLE77 at 08:47 PM JST - 23rd August

Gee you guys are so nasty! Becky is a positive role-model for many.

  • Sarge at 08:55 PM JST - 23rd August

    I agree with Nicole.

Interesting, I like Becky as I know her to be very good at what she does, but I guess you can't please everyone.

  • akaguma at 01:43 AM JST - 24th August

please explain how becky is a role-model. would you like your daughter or other young girls in your neighbourhood to grow up with her intelligence? even if she was lucky enough to attend a prestigious university there is no indication of such which is merely a marketing strategy by her agency to make her more marketable. let's face it, if all young girls were given becky as a role-model, what sort of society would we have in the future. personally, i want my wife, my daughters and every other man and woman in this world to contribute something meaningful to society through intelligence and hard work. unfortunately for becky and her manufactured ilk such qualities are an antithesis to her 'work'.

    akaguma,

even if she was lucky enough to attend a prestigious university there is no indication of such

Read interviews with Becky in Japanese. She never graduated from a university, though she is taking classes at one.

***Read interviews with Becky in Japanese* no thanks. i'd rather spend my time by learning about something interesting. not really sure why people come to japan but the reason why japan is such a great country is because every small town you visit has a history and culture of its own. in most cases it is one that has been around for centuries. becky and the stupid televisual culture has been around since profit is the most important thing. we can only hope that one day the presenters on television will have some idea about what they are presenting rather than just making silly noises and acting coy.

... just making silly noises and acting coy

You forget her selfless philanthropic work by means of eating her way through South East Asia's cheap noodle shops.

  • shayouzoku at 01:46 PM JST - 25th August

haha those are the best densha

  • Kameleon at 03:39 PM JST - 26th August

    Erm, it doesn't say 'McKee'.

Why do some Japanese people persist in using English incorrectly?

  • kirakira25 at 02:39 PM JST - 29th August

I mightbe reading this wrong but isn`t that katakana perilously close to "Mucky"??!

  • lightenup at 09:38 AM JST - 3rd September

And you question the intelligence of a young "talento" girl?! In Japanese, the phonetics for Becky and McKee rhyme hence the reason for her part in the CM. Compared to most other young girls her age I think she is an excellent role model. She graduated from Asia Univ. in 2006 and has a wonderful relationship with her family even financially supporting her younger sister's studies in the US. (by the way her mom is Japanese and her dad is English)
