TV personality Becky, 24, was the most popular personality in TV commercials in 2008, according to broadcasting monitoring company Nihon Monitor. Becky was featured in 14 TV commercials for various companies, including airlines, wine producers, retailers and food makers. The report said that Becky appealed to consumers of all generations.

Meanwhile, Takuya Kimura, 36, a member of idol group SMAP, and ex-professional tennis player Shuzo Matsuoka, 41, were the most popular male personalities, appearing in 10 TV commercials each.

I know plenty of people who graduated with psychology degrees, art, human resource, hotel management, international relations or some other obscure degree and end up becoming an English teacher, finance person, house wife or something that has nothing to do with their degree... so what... Many people would gladly switch places with Becky just to do what she enjoys and is good at.

While I agree that she does indeed do a lot for "halfu", doesn't she only speak Japanese?? Much like Wentz??

And as for CM abd Japan... This is the country that used folks like Cameron Diaz to advertise eikaiwa. The only celeb that made sense to me was Celine Dion as she is a non-native speaker and could be a role model. Ewan, Cameron and the others? Why???

Pure gimmick - one name sounded like the eikaiwa involved, while the other contained all the letters of the name.

But no-one used Martina Navratilova to advertise their school!

I agree, I can't believe she only had seven CM's in 2008, it sure seems like she pitches everything but toilet paper and hand grenades in this country.

Trust me, OssanAmerica and cwhite, Becky is a flash in the pan, and wil be forgotten inside of two or three, then what will she do? Can't say having "TV Ditz" on your resume' will excite many potential employers....
