This was predictable.

Just watched the trailer. Thought the story and action seemed OK, but the main actor???? Looked like he was on the verge of tears before he got got his hair cut. John Huston??? never heard of him. Check out his filmography. Didn't see anything in there that would merit a huge step up for him like Ben Hur. A lot of TV and mini-series. They should have went with somebody like.....Charlton Heston. He would been better.

Some films are NOT to be messed with. Next theyll try to remake the Godfather.

Religious movies don't have the draw they used to as more people view religious dogma for the crowd-control it is.

There was a time when movies/plays set during period covered by the Old and/or New Testaments would crush at the box office (The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Jesus Christ Superstar, etc.). No longer. Even "Noah" isn't impressive compared to the older titles when you adjust for inflation and ticket prices.

Suicide squad makes no sense and is still making money while Kubo isn't and should be more widely available. The movie world of remakes and reshots is just stupid but good movies can't get screens.

Religious dogma has been replaced by political dogma (which is also crowd control), and the current generation would be more interested in seeing a movie about Che Guevara.

If Ben Hur were played by Russell Crowe, and Jesus by Johnny Depp, it would have had a better opening. People care more about names than religious or political dogma.
