Bob Dylan to play in Japan next March

TOKYO —
Singer and songwriter Bob Dylan, 68, will be flying back to Japan next year to perform in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.
Dylan has toured Japan five times since his first arrival in 1978, performing at large halls and arenas, but this time fans can get up close at venues, which have standing room for just 1,700 to 2,700 people.
It is the second time for Dylan to tour at such small locations. Dylan put on 17 shows in the U.S. in December 1997 at venues that held around 1,000 people.
His tour schedule is as follows: Zepp Osaka on March 12, 13, 15 and 16; Zepp Nagoya on March 18 and 19, and Zepp Tokyo on March 21, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 29.

Japan is in for some great shows; Bob's band sounds great as ever honed by 250 shows a year. But don't expect to hear the same old melodies of many of his hits, he's creative, likes to remold songs as he sees fit at the moment.

Tickets go on sale January 16 for 12,000 yen. I saw Dylan once in a small venue in Athens, GA about 15 years ago. It was an incredible show. He threw in a great cover of the Dead's "Friend of the Devil". I'm so excited I have a chance to see him in a small venue again.

Wow, the Zepp is rather intimate, compaired to the larger venues he plays elsewhere. Definitely worth seeing!
Milk the cash cow? If that were the case, he would have quit years ago. He`s a musician, and plays music because he actually enjoys it. Different than todays youngsters who are in it for the Bling Bling.

Pump 24, yup the boss and his management insisted on these types of venues where they can stretch out musically and people can mill about freely with some seating avail.

I went to two of his concerts here, and they were the most boring and disappointing concerts I have ever been to. Now the Dead, those are concerts.

His songs, both music and lyrics are so moving and full of meaning, every word is powerful and conveys a message, he is a noncofrmist and exciting even if he has been in the music world for a long time. He is a revolutionary and my idol.

i would like to go to his concert, talk to him and have his autograph. Love that he won't perform at a big crowded place, so it would be possible to be closer to him.

Wow, I grew up on this guy's music! My dad used to say "Tambourine Man" was the only song that could make me fall asleep when I was a baby. I'd love to see him live! Hope I can get my hands on some tickets.

I want to bring him flowers and say thank you for the music and the great lyrics, thank you for being such a great poet and musician who can create music transcending America and the US political establishment. My all time favourite song is Knocking on Heavens Door, I hope he sings it at the concert. He and Visotski are my vavourite poets musicians.

I became a fan in 1971. My American friends could not even pronounce his name. Well, Bob, was easy, but the first syllable in Dylan should be pronounced as in 'die', they assured me. I still have some footage of him playing at a major rock concert in Nara - many years ago!

Some budding young poets can take lesson from him in poetry if they can learn. Bob Dylan is anazing and even at 68 he still looks great and when he was young he was a total idol.
