British singer Leona Lewis, 23, has been named Goodwill Ambassador for UK-Japan 2008. She will visit Japan in July to attend the nomination ceremony. UK-Japan 2008 has been conducted by the British embassy in Japan to mark the 150th anniversary of the Anglo-Japanese Treaty of Amity and Commerce. The campaign showcases British culture in three categories: art, science and creative industry.
In an official comment, Lewis said, “I became a big fan of Japan when I visited there in May. I’m very happy to have an opportunity to understand more about the wonderful country.”
