Hope whatever caused him to take an overdose is resolved.

That is a lot of pressure for somebody so young. Too bad he felt like he had no choice but to turn to drugs.

apparently he took too much pills for cold!?

  • sk4ek at 02:33 PM JST - 31st August

Yes, this article fails to mention that it was apparently a suicide attempt via prescription cold medicine; the implication that he was a "drug user" appears nowhere in the Japanese articles I've seen.

Oh yes! Once again JT attempts to sensationalize a story by telling the full story. He took too many cold tablets and became sick as a result. However, the way this story reads (or doesn't) he is a seriously depressed actor who took copious amounts of a drug in order to end his life. Media sensationalism at it's best (or worst).

Woops! Edit: by NOT telling the full story!

not surprising for a kid who is becoming a nobody as everyday passes

Shock to read this item. The actor was marvellous in the film, which I understand was filmed over a year to allow actors to show them older and longer-haired. Still a serious health scare.

I saw the film and was amazed by about everything in it : the juvenile actors, the difficulty of the exercise, the trueness of the plot and its straightforward approach of social evils in Japan, and much more...

But I suspect that acting at that young age, and particularly to give life to such a desperate story, can be very destructive four a young soul ; particularly so if after this brilliant performance there was no recognition or empathy in his own country and no followup.

    Heath Ledger copycat?

I've seen a lot of his work. Yagira has so much potential. I'm a film director myself and I know the presures on young actors. He needs to get away, clear his mind, travel and take a break. He'll be ok. His manager is to blame.
