TOKYO —
Unilever Japan will air a new TV ad for its Lux shampoo brand featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones, 38, from June 23. Zeta-Jones previously appeared in Unilever’s TV commercials in Japan in 1999 and 2000.
The company has so far featured Brooke Shields, Jennifer Connelly and Penélope Cruz for its TV ad campaigns in Japan. The new commercial will feature rock group EXILE’s latest song, “Super Shine,” which was created just for the ad.

EXILE are not rock! Theyre manufactured boyband pop garbage.

It's hillarious that 2 members of EXILE sing, and the other 5 or so just dance. Great 'rock group.'

Oh Catherine, I'm so disappointed. I always imagined you as a Pantene girl. Did Michael make you switch?

I always thought she'd done LUX already. I'm sure I've seen her in LUX ads before. Anyway, I remember the good old days when she was the girl next door, the sweet daughter of Pop and Ma Larkin. I guess Hollywood and marriage to a rich elderly guy has made her head bigger. Is she embarrassed of her former Welsh accent (as Sheena Easton is of her Scottish accent)?

plugging a plug...could this be a first ?

I think she suffers from the same problem as a lot of Welsh people who leave Wales - their accent tends to disappear and only reappear at times of stress, happiness, drunkenness or talking to other Welsh people. I sound quite upper crust most of the time when calm and sober, apart from slightly lengthened vowels in some words.
But that Welsh-American hybrid accent is quite amusing.
BTW, did anyone see Dawn French's take-off of CZJ at the comedy gala to raise money for the Tsunami victims a few years ago? Absolutely hilarious!

Why on earth would anyone be embarrassed of their Welsh accent?? It's one of the most beautiful accents in the English language, with the Scots and West Country accents not far behind. But Welsh-America hybrid?....eeeuooghh
