TOKYO —
A CD containing a song sung by Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama 22 years ago will be put on sale across Japan on Oct 30, its sales agency, Teichiku Entertainment Inc, said Wednesday. Hatoyama commented on the upcoming release of the song titled, ‘‘Take Heart—Tobitate Heiwa-no tori-yo (take wings, the bird of peace),’’ ‘‘I very much like both the lyrics and melody. But I think I’m a better singer now.’‘
According to Teichiku, the song was first made into a record in the summer of 1987 by Hatoyama, who had been elected to the House of Representatives for the first time a year earlier. About 100 records were produced but never sold. They were presented to his supporters and others in 1989.
