TOKYO —
A charity chorus group, mainly consisting of celebrities who have had cancer, gave a special concert this week at a hotel in Tokyo to call for understanding of cancer. Kuniko Yamada, 47, who had breast cancer surgery last year, said, “Cancer can be treated if detected early. All of us here tonight have had cancer and survived.”
The 20 celebrities, including well known journalist Shuntaro Torigoe, 68, and actress Chieko Baisho, 66, all participated the concert.
The group plans to hold a concert at the Marunouchi Building in Tokyo on June 12 and other places once a month.
