Going with Abrams paid off very well and produced something worthy of the name Star Wars (the real one, not the prequels). Looper absolutely sucked, and it worries me they are going with that director and delaying the release because of the extreme success of Episode 7. And spin-offs already? Sounds like they are going to let the success get to their head and take the usual nose-dive with sequels. I hope not, though.

Rogue One was teased long before the full trailers of Episode VII were shown, Smith.

Wait, you have such a successful movie and then you change the most important part "the director"? They are nuckingfuts. Let J.J. direct all three of them.

Now I understand why J.J. had time to hang out with Hideo Kojima.

It'd be nice to see Edgar Wright take the helm!

The delay is a retail trick, nothing more.

J.J. may have been the cause of the change. He might have already been contractually obligated to do another film during that time or he may have tried to turn the screws a little too tight on his compensation for VIII.

Disney: "This is not the delay you are waiting for....."

With a change of director I feared there might be a loss of consistency in the style, story line, etc. with what J.J. Abrams started with VII. Then again, IV to VI started with George Lucas and each one had different directors and writers, so I guess it's a matter of sticking to the script and the actors staying true to their characters. We'll just have to wait and see.

Har!

"It will feature the stars of “The Force Awakens”: Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega."

What about Harrison Ford and Chewie?
