Well, Mary Poppins was one of my favorite movies as a child in the 80s, when the movie was already old, and it was the bubble era, with money everywhere. The family is named "Banks", the father works at a bank, the kids have to chose between putting their money in the bank or giving it to the bird lady, as Poppins suggests. It is a morality tale of the soul. Do you give your money to a bank to promote industry or to a bird lady because it is a nice thing to do. Food for thought, and it means the actual center of the movie is not Poppins but the children who have to make the decision. And I still sing Chim Chim Cher-ee at karaoke.

Please. Don't. Go. There.
The "sequel" to "The Wizard Of Oz" was a travesty. Why does anyone think this will be any better? Some things just should not be messed with.
Oh, and the same goes for the rumored "Top Gun 2".
Just saying....

It won't be the same without Dick van Dyke doing the BEST cockney accent ever.

Please no. At least try and get actors with authentic accents to play the roles. And no bloody songs. I loved the Mary Poppins books, they were much more inventive and exciting than the film, which was quite dull in parts.

Ouch. You beat me to it. You know, I think the movie themes are so dated that they just won't fly anymore.
Kids will be saying all of the following: "What is a chimney sweep?""People burned coal to stay warm?""Why are they feeding the pigeons?""Why does that old guy keep shooting a cannon?""What drugs are those people taking?""Do poor people still live in London?"

A very sexy Mary Poppins. However, Anna Kendrick, dream casting for the part.

Anne Hathaway? I won't be watching it then.

Whether this remake is a good or bead idea is besides the point. If you read the article carefully, you'll see that it's set in the 1920's. By your way of thinking, all movies should be set in the present. or future

It is a sign that Hollywood/Disney have run out of ideas.

Anne Hathaway should make a supercallifragilisticexpialidocious Mary Poppins, and, heck, bring back Dick Van Dyke to reprise that chimney sweep character!
