Drama 'Gokusen' to finish with film-length version

A film-length version of actress Yukie Nakama's popular TV drama series “Gokusen” will be released in July, according to producer NTV. The drama is about a high school teacher (Nakama), who was born to a yakuza family, and how she solves troubles related to her students.

Last spring, the drama marked the highest average rating (22.8%) among other TV dramas. Popular males idols are featured in the cast of the drama series. The film will be the final episode of the series, according to NTV.

In an official comment, Nakama said, “I feel sad to think that the film will be the end of the drama. But I'm sure we'll all finish with a big smile.”

'Gokusen' is very well done as far as Japanese dramas go.

It should continue with Yukie Nakama becoming a college professor!

Call it 'Daigokusen'! Paycheck please!

I really do not care for this show at all. I just do not like the characters and I would rather read the manga.

Understandable. The third season seemed rather diluted and they have to keep finding ways to get the kumai character back in (it's the only acting gig that guy gets apparently). If they wanted to keep it going, they'd throw Yankumi into new situations, such as teaching adorable yet precocious little kids, or getting in over her head in a high-level college-prep class. But the purpose is to promote the next wave of increasingly fey-looking boy stars, so doing the same thing over and over gets boring.
