Ebi-chan admits to carnivorous side at DVD release of 'Gossip Girl'

Model Yuri Ebihara, 30, attended an event in Tokyo this week to promote the sale of DVDs of the first season of American drama “Gossip Girl.” Ebihara, or Ebi-chan as she is affectionately known, commented on the high fashion sense shown in the drama and said she wants to try the “xoxo” used to denote kisses and hugs in her emails soon.

Ebi-chan is rumored to be seeing ILMARI, 34, of hip hop group RIP SLYME, and she looked like she had grown a bit weary of questions about her private life. She perked up, though, when one reporter asked her if she turned into a so-called “carnivorous woman” when it came to love. Ebi-chan said: “I think everyone does when they become passionate for someone.” When asked if she was passionate these days, she replied: “I think I can be!”

The term “nikushokukei joshi” (“carnivorous women”) was coined after the introduction of the term “soshokukei danshi,” literally translated as “grass-eating or herbivore men.” The latter came about following the rise in the number of Japanese men noted for their lack of interest in sex and their preference for quieter, less competitive lives, in contrast to the typical qualities seen in men in previous decades.

DVDs of the first season of “Gossip Girl” will go on sale Oct 21.

I never had any time for vegetarian women. Unless the girl's prepared to eat some meat, there's no point even asking her to dinner.

I'm pretty sure Ebi-chan is no stranger to the delights of a good bellyful of pork. But I'm disappointed to learn that her ambitions reach no further than to write xoxo in an email.
