Enka singer Kiyoshi Hikawa says fans are more important than marriage

TOKYO —

Enka singer Kiyoshi Hiakawa, 30, this week started a series of concerts in Tokyo to introduce his latest song “Aishu no Mizuumi” which will be released on Oct 1. He said fans are more important than marriage, ahead of his 31st birthday on Saturday.

Hikawa, who is popular among middle-aged women, told reporters: “I of course think of marriage because I like kids. I know it’s time to think of it. But right now, giving my fans a performance to enjoy is more important than marriage.” Asked about his ideal woman, he said, “Someone who is elegant, modest, gentle and sensitive ... and who has long hair.”

Is this guy the Japanese version of Tom Jones (all the older ladies loved him).

Ireckon he must be a confirmed batchelor like Cliff Richard.

Why do old birds like him, do they throw their knickers at him, like they used to do to Tom Jones?

We never seem to see Japanese singers on Englih telly, i wonder why it aint popular.

“Someone who is elegant, modest, gentle and sensitive ... and who has long hair.”

If he could compromise on the "elegant", "modest", "gentle" and "sensitive" parts, he may just find a woman here in Japan.

Sounds like a diplomatic way of saying "I shag my groupies."

I don't know what is the marital status of most of the Japanese singers. (male and female) Do they normally married when they are about 30 years old? I hope he finds his wonderful dream lady or maybe, he already has one by heart but it's his personal life so we just want to congratulate him when he does find his true lady.
