Erika Sawajiri to get married in January

TOKYO —

Actress Erika Sawajiri, 22, will get married to media creator Tsuyoshi Takashiro, 44, media reported Monday. The couple’s relationship was first exposed by a weekly magazine in September last year, and shortly after, Sawajiri gave the media plenty more to talk about when she infamously sulked on stage at the premiere of “Closed Note,” a movie she starred in.

Since then, Sawajiri has refrained from working, and spent most of this year reportedly living with Takashiro in London. She is expected to return to Japan before the year-end and officially announce the upcoming wedding.

I assume that he was attracted by her maturity and personality. Or her teddy bear.

Teddy bear? That's a joke. Maturity? Not sure about that either. IMO TT is attracted by SE's youngness, naivety, and materialsim. By providing her all the material support, he could eventually retain her for a longer period, use her as a front, etc. etc. etc. Some say TT could even have had hypnotized her to certain extent.

TT's track record with other female talents have not been positive either. He has dealt with a few of them AFAIK, but such liaison didn't last long. "Love at first signt" at some rave party? Gimme a break!! He could've nailed her weaknesses and started to manipulate her immediately at that point. The only difference is that while other females involved finally pulled the plug (when they sensed something was wrong), SE wasn't able to be couraged to say "NO" due to certain reasons. That's when TT's got the upper hand.

I think everyone is assuming a lot. Let's face it. He is a very successful media creator. She is not very convincing. I think she was some kind of botched project that threatened to escape the laboratory and in a desperate attempt to avert a meltdown he has agreed to marry her. it's a classic case of frankenschteinism

oberst, your comment is a little ironic given that Erika is half-algerian.

Half-French, quarter-Algerian is a more accurate description, according to other publications.

But anyway, doesn't matter. This brat has been ridiculed all over the net. Many in 2ch regard her as Arab and compare her with Al Qaeda...... Given her questionable character, this kind of bashing is totally understandable.

her husband and father are the same age so communication between families should be good. Her job as a wife is to shut up or her husband will call his new best friend, her father, to get things sorted.

anon99, so her mother is French/Algerian mix?

I thought Erika was good in 1 liter of tears. However even back then there were rumours of rudeness on set and she also came across as bored and distant in interviews. Then there was the infamous incident which made her look like a brat. Her insincere tears and apology made it even worse.

She's very beautiful and she can act, unfortunately her good looks aren't matched by a good personality. You can't succeed in this kind of job if you can't be personable during promotions and interviews.

Since she doesn't have a "talento" career anymore it's good that she's settling down and continue gold digging..lol

  • cocorose at 02:08 AM JST - 28th December

Hey ! Not everyone can have everything. She's got the good looks and style that most people would like in a young girl her age. So automatically she can afford to be difficult and rude. The only thing she doesn't have is money so she got herself a man. What's wrong with that?

For me Erika will always be the girl in Ichi Rittoru no Namida. She lost her father at a young age,and her brother in an accident. The Press still hound her,and her Mother.I hope she has found happiness, and wish her luck.Only sadness for me is her years away from acting,a loss to her and to us all.

I couldn't have said better. I'm very happy she gets married (although i'd prefer it was me ^^), and don't care about the age. She's really skilled and beautiful, was amazing in Ichi rittoru no namida, and will always be for me the only one actress who made me cry. Everybody make mistakes, and to be under pressure since its 15 is not easy. So I hope 2009 will be a year filled of Erika's films and music !!

She has real acting skills unlike most 'cutie' idols as of late. Unfortunately, talent can only get you so far. I hope she matures (despite the odds).
