Asian consumers are like American filmgoers before the gun crazed, shoot 'em up bang bang war movie film culture starting making studios promoters of death and violence. I am happy to see films from Arnold (what was he thinking) and Stallone... (same old crap.. now just old).. Hollywood studios are making films that appeal to the Chinese market. Hollywood has little creativity.. just copy what is formula to make money.. great films do not get recognition by Oscars ie: Avatar loses to Hurt Locker? Films and video games are blur the line between digital entertainment and reality... it is time for China to make and film art other than Kung Fu movies... what about historical adventure films.. films that are about travel, love, romance.. beauty.. nature.. movies with moral lessons that inspire people and make children dream of being great people.

Didn't we watch red cliff a Chinese opus. Or "Che" the 4 hour epic about a South American. "I am not into that history". Lame! If the movie is good it will get you into that movies. Buddy. I can gangrene tee you 99% of the people in the USA don't know the history as well as they admit. They know about some war called the civil war, they know the man ab Lincoln, they know about the slaves. They know how and where Lincoln was shot. That is as much as you or anyone in the world should now. I know how and where Frans Frendanand was shot but I am not European. Most Asian films here are terrible. Seem good and even great one come out from time to time. But they are rare and usually don't even do well in Asia. Save a few flukes that do well in both east and west theatre, like that Korean monster movie. Ghost rider 2 straight to American DVD is straight to Japanese theaters. S many of my students are excitd to see. It was so bad it was only the 3 rd movie I had to fast forward to be able to get to the terrible end.
