Fuji announcer Kazuhiro Watanabe apologizes for scandal

TOKYO —

Kazuhiro Watanabe, 32, an announcer for Fuji TV, on Tuesday apologized during his live program for a scandal. Weekly magazine Shukan Asahi reported that Watanabe, who is married, was physically involved with a woman. Following the report, Watanabe said, “A magazine today published details about me concerning a very private matter. I apologize for causing trouble and I hope that I can regain the trust of viewers.”

Watanabe, who co-anchors “Mezamashi Teribi,” didn’t directly refer to the story and declined to make a clear comment on whether it’s true or not. According to Fuji TV, he will not withdraw from his regular programs.
