TOKYO —

Fuji TV newscaster Aiko Kaito will appear in a CD featuring various uniforms she has worn on her morning program “Mezamashi TV.” Kaito, 26, appears on the program each week from Monday to Friday.

The 2-CD set will include “Gaku Navi” segment of the show which ran from October, 2007 to September 2009, focusing on high school students’ club activities and other youth issues. Hit songs from the 1980s and 1990s were used as background music on the show and 16 tracks will be included on each of the two CDs.

On the cover of the two albums, Kaito wears a high school uniform. She said she wanted to present a cute and fresh image. “I hope not only students, but also adults, will be reminded of the radiance of youth by listening to these CDs,” Kaito said.

The CD also comes with a DVD of “Gaku Navi” for which Kaito narrated 20 episodes. It will be released on March 3.

Wow. I don't know where to go with this quote. A "cute and fresh image"? How is it either one? You're 26 and presumably an adult now! This marketing idea is more in line with what I would expect to find on a porn DVD here.

    exactly, no other interpretation.

She is simply making money while she can selling what she’s got. I’m not going to be buying, but I can’t see a thing wrong with what she is doing. Good luck to her.

She makes me feel "radiance" while I look at her "cute and fresh" image. She really is a cutie! I really like this country.

She's 26 why does she have to dress down to appear to teenagers.

    Weird !!!!

Teenagers want to look adult like. This news caster wants to become a teenager. Backwards society for real !!!!

Oh please, if we want the 'radiance of youth' we will go after the genuine fresh article from the myriad of shinjin idol debut pile.

She's 26 why does she have to dress down to appear to teenagers.

Because the target sales audience is 40 year old Japanese men with no girlfriends.

Maybe you are like me. I was happy to leave my high school years behind me and, at age 26, transition to 'independent young adult' with a university degree and a new personal fashion style to reflect eight years' personal growth and development. Not in Japan, I guess.

Just back from Family Mart and there it was: this CD-- cellophane-wrapped in the deluxe edition, complete with a bottle of skin moisturizer and small pack of tissue. What the~?

I think someone is using the term 'newscaster' pretty lightly. I think the correct job title is 'babe who can read news-related articles.' But then who amongst us hasn't done a fashion shoot in our jobs. Barbara Walters springs to mind.

'Aiko'. I hope her name's kanji doesn't translate to that Diana Ross song from the 70s: 'Love Child'. That would be cruel and unnecessary for any single mother to do to their future newscaster daughter.

she looks great in that uniform. strike while the iron is hot is what they say so she should make the most of it before she cools down.

I never seen a Japanese high school uniform like that.

I think that particular sweater looks good on any women of any age.

Badge213, No mate, them type of jumpers was all the rage in my teens. Only worn by elderly golfers these days. She looks pretty daft.

It comes as no surprise that the male top management at TV Fuji, all 60+ years old, mentally-pictured little Aiko in a high school uniform and gave an enthusiastic thumbs up when this marketing idea was run past them!

High school uniform, huh? How original....

This chick is seriously way over rated here. She is "popular", but god only knows what for. Maybe it's her high high pitched voice that can scare dog?

    Exactly.

Vomit. Read: I hope the pervy oyajis will get off on this and feel encouraged to grope the next high school girl they see on the train.

Good grief. Is it any wonder Japan has problems with perverts?

Alas I will never take this girl seriously again. Anyway that isn't a terribly attractive School uniform for an adult to be wearing as the skirt is way too long.

“I hope not only students, but also adults, will be reminded of the radiance of youth by listening to these CDs,” Kaito said.

But she's 26. I personally think she just wants to get paid to look hot in a uniform.

Anyways, uniforms remind me of control, discomfort, and lack of individuality. Basically everything but radiance.

The outfit she's got on now looks just fine on a young woman in the real world. There's nothing particularly high-schoolish about it. She looks radiant enough to me.

    tokyokawasaki

Imagine the outrage and disgust if a female 'news reporter' in any of the other G8 nations tried this little 'school uniform' stunt. As an example I don't think the BBC would stand for it. Just goes to show how the morals and ethics in Japan are worlds apart (or should that be decades behind)...

    IvanCoughalot

You're not paying attention. She said the word "cute". Ipso facto, this is valid in this vapid, self-deluded land.
