TOKYO —
A bartender from Fukuoka won “2008 Suntory the Cocktail Award” this week at a Tokyo hotel. The 15th annual event drew bartenders from all over Japan. Celebrity Yuka, 28, was a guest judge. Masahiko Endo, 33, won the “Bar Oscar.” Twenty cocktails were selected for the competition from about 1,000 applicants.
Endo said, “It is like a dream to win this competition. My goal today was to create something new with old liqueur. I hope to create more cocktails that can be accepted abroad.” Endo’s winning cocktail, which he called Milano Renaissance, is Campari-based.
Yuka said, “I tried all 20 cocktails nominated, so now I’m feeling pretty good. Mr Endo’s cocktail is sweet and fresh. I think both women and men will like it.”

I love how in Japan they put in the definite article when there is absolutely no need to, and vice versa. "Rocky The Final" comes to mind.

They could have at least told where he works. Since I live in Fukuoka, I would like to try one of his 'sweet and fresh' cocktails.

I love Campari, and especially when mixed as a negroni.
I wonder what the recipe is for Milano Renaissance.
