The release date of the Studio Ghibli's next featured film, "Omoide no Marnie" (When Marnie Was There) is approaching. It's going to be released on July 19.
"Omoide no Marnie" is based on the British children's book "When Marnie Was There". The Studio Ghibli version, directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (director of "The Secret World of Arrietty"), is set in a marshy area of Hokkaido. The movie tells the story of Anna who doesn't like socializing but meets a blond girl Marnie and ends up spending a summer together.
The new promotional poster was unveiled a few days ago, which gives you a bit more of an understanding about what the movie is about. It shows Anna and Marie hand-in-hand standing back to back. It's not one of the scenes from the movie, but the director Yonebayashi designed the poster to match how he looks at the world.
Two promising young actors provide the voices of the main characters: Sara Takatsuki as Anna, and Kasumi Arimura as Marnie.
