Gravure idol Nozomi Fujikawa takes kimono off at press event for upcoming movie

Gravure idol Nozomi Fujikawa, 27, pleased reporters at a press event held in Higashi Shimbashi on Monday when she lowered her kimono to her hips, covering her breasts with her other hand.

The event was held before a special preview of her upcoming film “Onna Goroshi Abura no Jigoku” - known as “Murder at the Oil Store” in English. It is Fujikawa’s first time to play the leading lady in a movie and it also marks her return to the entertainment world after a six-year absence. The movie, set in 18th century Japan, centers on the life and murder of the bored wife of a wealthy Osaka oil merchant.

When Fujikawa lowered her kimono for the press, those in attendance voiced their approval with her 81-58-84 figure. She roused the crowd when she said: “I’m not wearing anything under this. I came without any underwear.”

She also commented on the filming of the nude scenes in the movie, saying: “Sometimes the director would bark at me, and I would cry. But I realized I’m a bit masochistic, so I’ve grown as a result of this movie.”

“Onna Goroshi Abura no Jigoku” opens in cinemas on Saturday.

Here in the U.S. she would be on the cover of all the tabloids with the headlines screaming, "Nozomi Fujikawa In Deadly Dance With Anorexia!" and they would use this picture to prove it (and sell more papers).

That said, I don't think she's really as gaunt as she appears in this photo. The angle of the wrist of the hand holding her kimono, the sharp relief of the tendon in her neck when she turns her head far to the left, and the almost edge-on" pose in relation to the camera give the appearance of being too thin, but the face itself does NOT look gaunt. I think a photo from a different angle (and I'm sure there must be SOME out there seeing as this was a press event) would show her to be a bit healthier than this photo does.

Reality moment: Asian women are smaller framed and would be thinner. But she also probably strictly controls her diet to keep herself from getting flabby and to keep her skin nice.

They pride themselves in being thin. I met a Japanese woman who told me that her Obstetrician told her not to put weight on during pregnancy when I was expressing awe on how quicly they went back to their pre pregnancy weight. ( Thats like asking the devil for some cool water). so I guess she is ok.

Pretty much all Japanese obstetricians will tell mothers to be not to gain more that the rough birth weight of the baby 3-4kg. If they are already overweight, then they will be asked to gain no more, and if underweight, to gain enough to hit ideal weight + a little.

I don't see this as being medically wrong, although as a father I know how much emotional and physical stress is involved for mum during that preiod so managing weight really shouldn't be that high a priority ;)

outofmydepth you are right. And wonder what happened to the nail or the varnish on the ring finger? Admire her boldness to strip at a public event, but i think she should be careful about other details too..
