How about having some of the Asian films put into the IMAX format and distributed around the world? Something along the lines of The Good, The Bad, and The Weird from South Korea?
IMAX DID have have a theater in Shinjuku, and then later in Shinagawa at the Prince. Both closed due to poor sales. They only showed films in Japanese (KIRIKAE) because they couldnt apply the subtitles on the film, according to a theater staff member I spoke to. IMAX isnt cheap at 2300 a seat in Kawasaki on the Lazona side, i believe, and some other middle of nowhere places. They have all the latest, including the new Monsters in 3D.
