Japanese version of 'Ghost' to be made

TOKYO —

Actress Nanako Matsushima, 36, and Korean actor Song Seung Hong, 33, are set to co-star in the upcoming Japanese-language remake of the 1990s movie “Ghost.” The new movie alters the original plot, telling the story of a Japanese female CEO who falls in love with an aspiring young potter from Korea, and who stays by his side even after death.

Matsushima said of her performance, “I kept thinking about what it would be like to fall in love again.” Song, who learned Japanese for the film, said he was a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera. “To be polite, I wouldn’t eat anything during shooting, and once my stomach growled really loud while we were filming a really important scene.”

The movie will be released on Nov 13.

Interesting that they have to teach a Korean guy Japanese just so they can have a decent romantic-lead male actor. Says a lot about the appeal/quality of J-men actors.

Ridiculous. This goes everything against their current society. Woman CEO dating a gaijin.... From what I hear, Japanese women love Korean drama guys as they whine and cry pretty good.

I hope Zoe Saldana plays the Whoopi Goldberg character.

    "Saw this on TV"

    No, you didn't.

I hope Whoopi Goldberg plays herself. That would really spice up the movie.

Ohhhh, that's a low blow herefornow !!! That hurts !!! Very sad !!! They have to find some actor in another country to get the romantic setting !!! I think they should have used " Bobby " the African guy or the Italian guy from Japanese tv instead of the Korean guy.

Theu should have choose " Bobby " or " Smap " guy and let SMAP do the songs for the movie.

@OssanAmerica & Weasel: The great Japanese character actress, Kiki Kirin (樹木希林) is going to be playing the Whoopi Goloberg character. I think she is a great choice for it!!

Nanako is way too young to be interested in Korean men.

I think Doraemon would be a good Whoopi Goldberg substitute.

Oh joy, get to hear his stomach growl during the pottery scene.

Maybe they can put a Japanese twist to it: a tiny Sadako pops out of the clay pot they are romantically making together and makes them die of fear?

The Whoppi Goldberg character will be played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the scheming bad guy by Christopher Walken. The "black ghosts" that come to bring the bad souls to hell will be played by Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Jesse Ventura. Guys—this is so not the Patrick Swayze version—expect lengthy gunfights with rivers of empty gun shells spewing out of overheated miniguns.

All these actors will be speaking their best Japanese on screen. M Night Shyamalan (who will also direct the movie) will also have an as yet unrevealed cameo.

This is sure to appeal to a certain demographic group, I guess: 40-something ladies who remember the original movie and are now into Korean dramas. It's the ultimate fantasy for J-women: a good-looking guy who disappears at the snap of a finger when he gets boring.

How cool ! A Japanese female CEO character on J-TV ! Japan needs more characters like this to give strong and positive female role models to Japanese women
