Kano sisters keep it behind closed doors

Kyoko Kano, the older of the Kano sisters, has made her directorial debut with the steamy movie “Butterflista Subete Wa, Ai no Koi.” She and her sister Mika attended a preview screening for the movie, which explores such risque themes as homosexuality, S&M, sex toys and threesomes.
The movie is a compilation of six audacious and daring works on the idea of love without boundaries. “There are no taboos or limits when it comes to what we are prepared to do in the name of love,” explained Kyoko.
Politics, on the other hand, is a far more serious taboo for the sisters. When asked about the Democratic Party leadership vote that saw Prime Minister Naoto Kan retain his job, Kyoko refused to comment, saying, “We all have different tastes and preferences but that stuff should be kept behind closed doors, as far as celebrities are concerned. Mika and I talk about politics at home but we certainly don’t want to touch on it in public.”
The movie opens on Sept 23.

I remember I saw by chance a studio clip of Mika Kano when she was in her twenties. She is possibly the only one from Japan who could do the Nissan GTR commercial internationally - she had the "muscle car" race queen look. One of the clips was her at a train station in white hot pants strolling, she looked fast.

Just for the record, they are and always have been women, they are not sisters although Kyoko has a sister who was their business manager until she split for Paris with a lot of Kyoko's jewelry. Kyoko is dumber than a ball-peen hammer but Mike is quite smart.

I met a guy who knew one of them many years ago. Told me the whole story of how they used to be highly paid new-half prostitutes to male clientele (that is why there is a gap in their history). That is how they made their first huge fortune and paid for all of the many surgeries. Mika had her male genitals removed, the other may still have them.

Appartently getting plastic surgery done on top of old plastic surgery is expense. Creating a movie in hopes of generating enough profits to finance their surgery was probably their only option. A sad testament to vanity insanity, maybe they will find a pond to stare at in greece.

Regardless of their true gender beginnings, I think it's safe to say that the fact that you even have to wrestle with the question at all puts a pretty serious damper on things. Although I guess for some that ambiguity might be right in the wheelhouse? At any rate, the cultural use-by date for this pair seems to have come and gone long ago.

I don't know about this rumor of the Kano Sisters being guys. When Mika Kano was younger, she was noticed outside Japan. This link may explain some of the problems they have:
"Kyoko: If you're asking about plastic surgery: Our feeling is that it's not a bad thing if it makes you feel better about yourself. But in Japan, there is still a strong stigma against it. So we don't want to say whether we have or haven't had any, although I realize that will make you think we have."
