Precisely the type of amoral programming that makes the office of the president ever less respectful and viewed with cynicism.

Seriously? Hill Street Blues? I have a much better example for introducing the anti-hero for you, Kevin. "J.R. Ewing" from "Dallas" which premiered in 1978. In fact, you could make a strong argument that "House of Cards" borrows heavily from Dallas.

Point of order: An "office" of any sort is incapable of being "respectful". Respect is a concept that applies to human beings alone. Job positions simply can't do it. Respect is not demanded, but earned. Respect is earned by a human's actions (or inactions, when appropriate) and can be the result of performing the duties of their job or have nothing whatsoever to do with the duties of their job.
An office? It can't do any of that. An office is merely a title, incapable of conscious thought.
