Korean group After School to collaborate with Hello Kitty
Entertainment ( 24 )
TOKYO —
All-girl South Korean pop group After School is collaborating with Japan’s Hello Kitty character, according to a statement by the group’s management Pledis Entertainment and Sanrio Co, which manufactures and markets the Hello Kitty brand.
After School made their official debut in Japan on July 17 with a concert at Akasaka BLITZ. Kitty-chan appears with the 8-member group in the Japanese music video for their single “Bang!” that was released on Wednesday. Kitty-chan appears in the video, dressed like a marching girl, and also appears on the CD jacket.
On Sept 9, After School will return to Japan to take part in a mini-live event during which Hello Kitty merchandise will be sold.

Both countries have lost the plot with this stuff. I know its a marketing tool but I am glad I don't have little girls to raise.... "mine live" eh... After School you should be studying and sports... this stuff might look cute and eye candy but it will take its toll on values of girls, and grown men. I am pretty liberal dude too, but this racket is out of control...they had 3 NMB girls last night on the Tiger game giving away a winner an autographed baseball shirt. Did they not just start that band last year? Nuts.

sense - this is like any music trend. Grunge, 90s boy bands, reality girl groups.... They burst onto the scene, girls squeal, parents complain and grown men lock themselves in the bathroom. Then every label is pounding the public with them but we can only take so much. The albums start to sound the same, the singers fight and do stupid things and producers start to drown in their own hubris.
The Korean/Japanese starlet kissy-face, mini-skirt, finger-waving girl group has hit its peak I think and you might get 18 more months of them.

Another talentless group of army girls trying to sing with absolutely no talent. If you want to just go on looks, yes, they are HOT, but if you are talking about musical talent, then the answer is-0.

Dent... I hope. My wife said the same thing... they will be gone in a few years and back to school and producers going down for all sorts of legal/tax issues. The country is just teen idol infested at the moment. Not sure about music trend...

never heard of them nor heard them, and i don't listen to that music style anyway. but wow are they hot and nice to look at. it's so true all you say Dent. fortunately, there's so much music out there that we can still choose and find some good stuff, rather than being forced to consume all the crap we see in advertisements.

I hope the headline writer knows that Hello Kitty is not real.

More of this and less of Korea-Japan tensions. They're working to mend and promote the Peace!

bass4funk, you should watch their amazing drum performance. They must have trained very hard to pull that one off.

Well, whether or not they have talent (and they can actually dance quite well, and use their actual voices from what I can tell) or you like their music, I hope they can have fun and people here enjoy the concerts without any politics from EITHER nation.

They're certainly not too rough on the old eyes.

Not complaining but there are so many K-pop girl bands that half of the girls in Seoul must be involved .
NICE legs

Hello Kitty could be the next Prime Minister and no one would even notice it.

not another one, we all know the boom only lasts a few years in Japan before they move on to the next. I heard there were something like 200 girl groups in Japan alone.

Damn, there are so many terrific stuff coming from the continent these days. What's Japan got in comparison, Tomomi Itano? pfffffft..

Another one of the dime-a-dozen groups from Korea desperately trying to make it big in Japan. yawn
