Kurara Chibana promotes warmth with Uniqlo

TOKYO —

Casual clothing retailer Uniqlo, subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co Ltd, plans to expand production of its Heat Tech product, a thermal undershirt which converts moisture into heat, with a focus on increasing sales in the U.S. and Europe. Miss Universe 206 runner-up Kurara Chibana appeared at the launch event, wearing the Heat Tech top under her dress. “Coming from Okinawa, I sometimes feel cold in Tokyo, but with just one of these I’m warm,” she said.

Uniqlo hopes to increase sales to 28 million units from this autumn to next spring, a 40% increase over the same period last financial year. Uniqlo President and Chairman Tadashi Yanai said he wants to make the Uniqlo brand well-known globally through products such as Heat Tech.

How quickly do these "high tech" clothes decompose? As an inhabitant of this planet, I am deeply concerned. Are people wearing clothes that pose a danger to nature? And while body odor hasn't destroyed the vital ozone layer I must ask, do these clothes absorb the foul odor that a hot body produces? This young lady might look cute, but after a long hot day converting moisture to heat her "high tech" shirt might absorb her foul body odor.

It's no laughing matter , kids!! These "chemical clothes" soak up your stink and if you don't wash them immediately you'll have to throw the item away!!

Personally, I prefer "CoolMAX" which wicks my sweat away. BUT this heat tech does come in non-sporty fashion styles, so that is a point in it's favor.

I volunteer to do the research on this. Just have her drop by my place any night and we'll strip off those nasty ol' clothes and do a little fact finding.

Sorry, but a chick with Uniqlo underwear would be a deal breaker for me.

a thermal undershirt which converts moisture into heat

    Sound like junk science-tech.

Anyway, Uniqlco undies say "down to earth", so they are by no means a deal-breaker for me.
