Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has announced her second world tour, which is scheduled to begin in Seattle, Washington on Feb 13, and will feature 16 performances in 11 countries.
Kyary, 20, a Japanese model and blogger turned recording artist associated with the Harajuku district of Tokyo, made the announcement after performing at Yokohama Arena in front of 12,000 adoring fans on Sunday. Kyary sang her 23rd hit single, "Yume no Hajimarinrin," which is scheduled to go on sale Feb 26.
Her show featured daring acrobatics, fantastic costumes, and even a fanciful stage battle, Sankei Shimbun reported Monday.
The artist expressed her gratitude to her fans, saying, "The reason that only three years after my debut I now have the opportunity to sing on this great stage is because of you! I had such a great time, thank you everyone!"
Kyary made her debut with viral video hit "PonPonPon," written and produced by Nakata Yasutaka of Capsule fame, in the summer of 2011. Her first world tour last year, titled “The 100% Kyary Pamyu Pamyu World Tour 2013,” featured 13 concerts in eight cities throughout Europe, the United States and Asia.
Last year, she also provided the theme song for the Japanese release of “Star Trek Into Darkness," having been selected by director JJ Abrams.
The upcoming tour will include North America (including Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago and Toronto), England, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

These "features" are helpful in distracting the audience from her lack of vocal range and general singing ability. Definitely a visual artist rather than a singing one.
blackrock
you were describing 99% singers these days

A person devoid of talent or insipration. How very J-Poop (er, Pop...)

"Singing" is really the wrong word. I mean she does sing in the studio, but anyone who has seen any of her "live" performances on TV morning shows here in Japan can tell that when she's on stage she lip synchs. I seriously doubt she would sound half like her CD if she actually had to sing and dance at the same time. Remember, she's not a trained singer... She's a fashion model.
That said, the video I've seen of the stage performance and sets for this tour looked pretty neat.

It's difficult to become a fan of a performer whose name I have trouble pronouncing.

World tour, eh? What's the average size of these venues?
theeastisred
She does have some originality, unlike most of her J-pop peers, and there are probably simpleminded fools in other countries who might go for it as an extension of their anime enthusiasm. In fact with luck they will keep her, sparing Japan further torture.

Earbuds around the world are crying for this madness to stop.

I guess to each his or her own. For me, no thank you. What you've seen on TV is just of the tip of the iceberg so we forewarned.

i love her. she'e quintessential japanese neo-cuteness
sensei258
Isn't it ironic that she lip syncs to her auto-tuned studio voice?
nath
How is that ironic?
sensei258
@ Strangerland - Ironic could mean "strange or funny because something (such as a situation) is different from what you expected". So I guess you're right. Nobody expects her to sing well on her own in the first place.

She and her troupe are quite entertaining!

No Australia this time either. Lame world tour that doesn't even visit all continents.

I guess all the spectacle takes away from the lack of actual singing ability.

Anyone else who's been here a while think this talentless hack is nothing more than the reincarnation of Shinohara Tomoe??

I mean she is NO Perfume! That is for sure (even though they use the same producer with Nakata-San)

Actually, this article omits it, but Australia is on the list. Problem is, it was on the list last time too, and then the ticket booking never opened.

She's far from the best but I personally love her voice. And she's different. Which is always good
