Anyone who likes this must be clinically insane. This is worse than the usual garbage, and even moreso because, as is usually the case, it's a person with no talent claiming the role of 'talento' by copying someone else's success. How about instead of copying and being known as 'Gaga of Japan' you come up with your own gimmick? Tough, I know, but give it a try.

“I listen to it everyday ... like taking drugs.”
Every day is misspelled. Second, if it's like taking drugs... every day... you have serious problems.

I'll take Ayaman Japan's "Poi Poi Poi" over this dreck any day!!
I had a faint hope that this was some kind of subversive parody of Japanese "cute", but no, not even a whiff of irony... she's perfectly serious!!!

3.5 million is NOT a hit... you can pay 100 dollars to get 1 million hits on youtube... a hit is 20million plus.

She is not copying Lady gaga. Crazy Harajuku fashion like this has been popular even before Lady gaga was known. So maybe even gaga was inspired by the Harajuku fashion like other celebrities in the US have.(like Gwen stefani and Nicki Minaj) and stating that people who like this is "clinically insane" or have a "lack of taste" is just really immature. Has it ever occured to some people here that different people like different things and that there is nothing is wrong with that.

Like it. I remember a lot of plastic bags with her face on when I was in Osaka a few weeks ago. The music videos are awesome.
By the way, can't stand it that everything from countries that are not the U.S. (Asia, Europe, whatever) has to be compared to something U.S.-releated. Lady Gaga? Come on, this is much better.

Capsule vocalist Toshiko Koshijima, and she's been singing long before anyone had even heard of or called Gaga a Lady. The video is a comment on the whole JPop and kawaii market.Every image in the video is the antithesis of cute, even to the point of her farting!
So sit back and listen to it a few times and you will be humming the tune the next day.

I love her hit song, and the video is incredibly insane, but I listened to her other things and the rest of them did not even come close to being as good

Sandra Caaran: "Has it ever occured to some people here that different people like different things and that there is nothing is wrong with that."
Of COURSE I know that people are fully entitled to their own opinions and taste in things. What a boring world if we all liked the same stuff (we'd need to fight each other for other reasons). That said, I still think in this case anyone who likes her music is clinically insane. :)
And yes, I also know the Harajuku 'fashion shows' and wild styles, and absolutely love to go there and look around when I visit Tokyo. I also know Gwen Stefanie has been influenced by the 'Harajuku girls' as she mentions in at least one song. Gaga goes beyond that fashion, though perhaps she was indeed INFLUENCED by it, and pushes the envelope with things like the meat dress or warning police tape, etc. If Kyarypamyupamyu is not trying to be like Gaga, she should perhaps try and dissuade people from calling her the 'Gaga of Japan'.

The article makes it seem like she is beloved by South Koreans.
She is considered "exciting" in the same way people find train crashes exciting.

as a person more accustomed megadeth, anthrax, and DIO, I found it strangely enjoyable.

@smithinjapan well I can agree on that "insane" thing a little bit since this don't exactly follow the norms of society. Sometimes it's hard to see differences in fashion especially with all the crazy fashion of Japans youth. But I don't think Kyaru's fashion looks anything like gagas. Gaga is more like she wants to be controversial, wierd, obscure but also classy and sexy(and don't get me wrong I LOVE gaga, both her fashion and music!) while Kyary is more of a walking toyshop. Pinks, light pastel colors and "kawaii stuff" is more her thing but I guess alot of people can't see the difference. All they see is the crazyness wich they both have. I personally think they both are brilliant in their own ways :)

I was expecting something more original and unconventional, but I fail to see any irony or subversive message... Typical JP synth-pop with childish melodies. The imagery might be exuberant, but I don't see any self reflection or subversion.
