Kyoka Suzuki to be image character for Shiseido

TOKYO —
Actress Kyoka Suzuki, 40, violinist Akiko Suwanai, 36, and model Maiko, 23, will be image characters for Shiseido’s new high quality cosmetic brand “Revital Granas.” According to Shiseido, the new brand targets women in their 30s.
The company will offer face-to-face consulting services over the counter at department stores. The price range of the items will be 1,890 to 15,750 yen. The new brand will be released on October 2, and new TV commercials featuring the three are also scheduled to be aired.

So why did they choose 40 year-old Kyoka? That's a different segment of the population. In much the same way that 30 is a different league to 29. There must be some kind of mistake.

Characters? Like Mickey Mouse? Or image girls? Image women? Advertising shills? Plus, doesn't every cosmetics company in the universe offer "face-to-face consulting services over the counter"? I think it's usually called "selling" or "scamming the gullible."
