Kyoko Fukada opts for natural look in photo album

Actress Kyoko Fukada, 25, released her new photo album “25 years old” on Saturday, which is her 26th birthday. The album features several photos in which she doesn’t wear make-up.

For some reason, this was a big deal and was reported on by the tabloids. In an official comment, Fukada said, “At first, I wondered if I should appear without make-up. But I thought I will challenge it. I think fans will find something different about me in these photos.”

Most young women I see on a daily basis use waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much make-up. In fact, most young women I see on a daily basis don't even need make-up to look good. I hope Ms Fukada's 'daring' and 'challenging' actions cause at least one woman to rethink the need to shell out huge sums of cash to Shiseido et al.

Too old to be making this type of book huh, lol. Considering that she made her t.v. debut in 1997 at the age of 15/16, and the fact that the age range of Jp celebrities and idols making photo books has varied widely in age (Aki Hoshino did one in her 30's), she's been doing this for a while and it's hardly a new concept. Great for her.

Fukakyon you're hot. But I'm a little concerned. You turned 26 today, and you release a calendar yesterday, your last day of being 25, and title it "25 years old"...? Well you're not 25 anymore baby. You're 26, and I'm not interested nor falling for this fraudulent campaign nor living in the past.

"Without makeup" is just a propaganda hook. What may be is, the makeup artist does a "nude makeup" style of makeup - same as in swimsuit shots, where the whole body wears makeup to give an appearance of flawless skin. Bare skin gets dry spots and shiny-oily spots less than an hour under the hot lamps during photo sessions, so makeup, creams and powders are necessary to give the "no makeup" look for a photo book where the main product to sell is precisely, photographs.

As for the book being released on her 26th birthday, it's a no-brainer that the aim of the book's release date is to have 25 years of age reflected in the book. She's 26 at the exact release date. Her 25 years end with the book, simply.
