'La Festa Mille Miglia 2008' to be held in October

The classic car rally “La Festa Mille Miglia 2008” will be held Oct 11-12 with 111 classic sports cars traveling 1,430 km through Tokyo, Fukushima, Tochigi and Kanagawa. The event was announced by singer-actor Masaaki Sakai, 62, singer Masahiko Kondo, 44, and musician Hideki Togi, 48, at Roppongi Hills recently.
Sakai, who won the event last year, said, “I could win in the past because participants didn’t understand the rules very well. But since it’s getting more popular, I can only hope to finish as high as possible.” Kondo, who is also a race driver, said, “Since people (in Japan) are not using cars as much as they used to, maybe these vintage classic cars will revive their interest.”

"people (in Japan) are not using cars as much as they used to" because they can't afford it anymore. If rich people want to spent their time and money in expensive vintage cars good for them. Other priorities...
