Latest trailer of Hollywood remake of Godzilla released

The second trailer for this summer's highly anticipated Godzilla remake was released over the weekend with a better look at the famous monster.

The new film, directed by Gareth Edwards, looks to be a much darker and grittier portrayal of the carnage that a giant monster such as Godzilla would create in the real world. One of the stars, Hollywood-go-to Japanese actor Ken Watanabe also insists that this film keeps true to the original 1954 version.

This cast also looks promising with Brian Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson joining Watanabe, along with a cameo by Akira Takarada who starred in the first Godzilla movie 59 years ago.

Watanabe also stressed that this script, penned by David Callaham and Max Borenstein, incorporates contemporary issues while keeping in the spirit of the first film. It was filmed from March to July last year in Vancouver and Hawaii.

It's got Bryan Cranston in it - that alone will sell it ! :)

Seems a bit over melodramatic to me for a simple monster movie.

Gloverfield or the American Godzilla might be more your taste.

Hollywood Godzilla? I won't be watched Godzilla movie definitely. I don't want to watch over special effect, over acting, over killing and over doing on everything Hollywood movie..

I hope seeing this one will help me finally forget the 1999 American remake of Godzilla because that one was atrocious!

And you don't have to. The great thing about democracy is, that you have the absolute right to see what you want. There are a multitude of choices and selections. You might like a more traditional look of rubber suits, plastic cars, Styrofoam and hanging wires, some people DO want to see a makeover and a more modern look. We are past the days of Lost in Space and the entire 1950's B-movie genre. Nothing wrong with that, but for a younger generation and if you want to keep a thriving movie industry, particularly in the horror and SyFy field, you need to be more creative, convincing and realistic. This movie is expected to do well domestically and internationally, that means it should draw in huge crowds. And as It"S ME pointed out, movies like Cloverfield was ok and interesting and good for a view or two. But a movie that you can forget after the hype is all gone. Not knocking it, but there are a lot better movies. The American Godzilla still to this day pisses me off! If I saw Emmerich in the streets, don't know what I would do! NOT only was it cheap and a complete mockery, they got Godzilla all wrong. It was one of the worst movies NOT as bad as Ishtar, but in the top 10 of the worst. This movie is a breath of fresh air. They are trying to stay true to the original to modernize, but NOT to overdue the story or Godzilla himself and I'm all for it and seriously looking forward to it.

Looks cool, better than the one that they made a while back with Matthew Broderick.

thank you warnerbros for bringing this to life

Looks much better than Hollywood's first attempt at doing Godzilla. Also appears to be more in line with the original story some 60 years ago.
