Law student Nana Tanimura decides music is a better career

TOKYO —

Singer Nana Tanimura, 22, who graduated from the faculty of law at Aoyama Gakuin University on March 27, has decided on a full-time career in music and launched her single CD “Far Away/Believe you” at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro this week.

Wearing a sexy outfit that showed her navel, Tanimura sang the two songs from her single CD which are also the theme songs for the PlayStation 3 game “Hokuto Muso.”

Tanimura told fans that she was pleased to have graduated, but “I want to concentrate on my music from now on.” She said she didn’t join in many activities while she was at university, “not even ‘gokon’ (matchmaking parties).”

I wonder how her parents feel about her not using her degree after they paid for her to study law at Aogaku, which is not cheap? I suppose she can pay them back with interest if her music career is successful.

In other words, she didn't pass the bar exam.

Very few law school graduates pass the bar exam. Law school in Japan is not a graduate-level degree; it's like majoring in pre-law. Besides, I think her parents would be happy to see that she understands she'll make more money as a singer than as an OL (with a degree in law).

She probably made the right choice. Law Degree?? C'mon, she'd probably end up an OL (with big boobs)...

Exactly. Plus, in Japan the odds are that it'll be easier to make it as a pop-star than to pass the bar exam.

That, or a "gravure" model. Thanks Debucho. She is hot.

She's a talented girl to have the option of going into either law or music. I can't say one is better or the other and neither can most of you haters out there.

She has hyper-extended elbows- very common here. I see it all the time in my yoga classes.

@ wontond: lol you thin girls need to be talented to be pop singers in Japan? HAHAHAHAHAHA Anyway, it's sad or funny (I can't quite decide which one)that she thinks.....moo trying to make a difference in society is too much work. I'll use my chest to make me money! Bet she'll wish she went to law school when she goes out of date in what 8 years? She's cute but her music sucks!!! Isn't she on the stupid FANTA commercial too?

If her music career doesn't take off, or flops, she can always go back and use her "Law" qualifications.

I didn't know gokon was a university activity.

A sexy young woman who will most certainly make a bundle of money, despite having no singing talent, flaunting her body on stage. I say if you've got it flaunt it. Go girl!!!

Maybe that's why many other law grads didn't go on with this path but have instead become, for example, media professionals (eg. joshiana)...?

    She's cute. That's it.

I can think of a number of other talented Japanese song writers (women) that should get more attention.

Still this is Japan and I admit, she's nice to look at. This place being what it is in terms of entertainment, I think she'll make it.

I wonder if her parents paid for both her education and her... enhancements? If she doesn't make it in music, she can always woo judges over to her side with the right outfit!

    Ultradude

YES...a quick googling assured me that her future lies in making music and videos with the occasional picture book. Seems to have decent English and Spanish pronunciation. She has all the assets...
