Leah Dizon, 4 months pregnant, announces she's married

TOKYO —

American singer Leah Dizon, 22, on Wednesday afternoon held a press conference in Aoyama to talk about her marriage and pregnancy which she announced at the last concert of her nationwide tour in Shibuya on Tuesday night.

Dizon dropped a bombshell when she told concertgoers that she was four months pregnant and that she had married a Japanese stylist in his 20s. She told 1,000 fans the wedding had been held last Friday at a hotel in Shinjuku. Insiders say the two had a Japanese-style wedding ceremony at the Hilton hotel.

Tuesday’s concert was the last one of a nationwide tour. Dizon said, “I have important news to tell you. I have actually got married.” Then she added: “I’m pregnant, too. My family and I are very happy.” She said she will take a break from showbiz until after her baby is born, but promised fans she will be back.

Dizon told reporters at Wednesday’s press conference that her husband is a 29-year old “smart guy” whom she met in January. She said they had gone to hot springs and ramen
restaurants together. She also showed a photo of herself in a traditional Japanese wedding dress.

Dizon’s agent didn’t allow reporters to ask her questions because “she is tired of being chased by paparazzi for three hours by car last night after the concert,” he said.

    Well, she's 22 so isn't it time for her to retire now anyway? She is too old to be picked up by another label in Japan, and about 7 years too old for J-men to gawk at.

    And the paparazzi "car chase" must have been a great way for a not even mediocre talent to bow out. I reckon she loved every minute of it.

    i hope she doesn't come back. there's enough untalented singers in japan already. it'll be awesome if japan can get rid of one! we don't need another one to come back from a freakin maternity leave...rolling eyes

    @KitsuneYoukai

    She's popular because she took risque photos (they looked like soft porn)

    Yeah... her music/singing is... bleh. Even her backdancers laugh at her (I've seen it, it's pretty sad)

    This lass has a very flexible mind and seems to have gone native in her mannerisms and behaviour. This includes the clip on the news of her crying when she announced her pregnancy and marriage. It all seemed very J.

  • thepro at 11:01 AM JST - 16th October

    She even raises her voice up a couple of octaves to sound extra kawaii

    hi nodame: Thanks for the explanation about Amuro Namie..!

    Anyway, the comments here are a little too negative..it sounds to me like you guys are 'hito no shiawase o- kirai-so...desu...ne'...perhaps you guys live in Japan for too long....eh?

  • Sammi33 at 08:15 PM JST - 16th October

    Good riddance. I wish she would take Suzanne, Wentz, and all the other "novelty Japanese gaijin" talents with her.

  • nodame at 10:30 PM JST - 16th October

    I just saw a picture of her husband gags He looks slimy. She said that she likes his brain, he actually said that he likes her butt. Nice couple rolls eyes

    Namie has a large fanbase and staying power while Leah's fans are mostly fanboys who know her from her previous work. If she had any sense she'd be milking her moment in the spotlight for all it's worth, not having a kid. @KitsuneYoukai, her almost-porn work is popular because she looks foreign enough to be exotic, but not too foreign.

    The saddest thing about it is that her tickets were on sale, even though they said the concert was sold out. The tickets were only selling for 160 yen online. No I am not missing a zero. Just 160.

  • tokyotom at 10:49 AM JST - 17th October

    i would like to write "who cares" but it seems as if 38 people do

  • IchyaParadise at 03:30 PM JST - 17th October

    But tokyotom, I do. She was labeled an American singer, when I never even heard of her. Then I did a wiki on her and low and behold, she was born in the states and got lucky modeling in Japan. She hated modeling gravure and wanted to change her image and began singing. She has no emerged and submerged like almost every other J talent. She has accomplished her goals. Job well done!

  • elbudamexicano at 09:41 PM JST - 17th October

    I think she is half white and half Filipina (but the mom is more Chinese than natvie Filipina) so their you have the "exotic" look that many J-guys go bonkers for.

  • nodame at 02:21 PM JST - 18th October

    She wants to be an actress now.

    I've seen videos of her modeling... she did not hate it. At one point she seemed to uuuuh.... heh, enjoy it quite a bit.

  • nodame at 02:23 PM JST - 18th October

    @elbudamexicano: She's a 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Filipina, 1/4 French, and 1/4 American. Her dad is Chinese/Filipino, and her mom is French/American.

    I'm 1/8 Chinese and I looke more Asian than her.
